Elephanti (@ElephantiApp) is a smartphone app and website featuring a groundbreaking way to search online for products and services offline in brick n? mortar stores. Elephanti members can search for specific items on Elephanti, view a list of nearby stores and venues that sell the item, browse their online catalog, and follow or check-in to view offers and discounts available in-store. Furthermore, users can interact with their favorite brands, stores and venues to receive real-time updates on what?s new in-store, rate and review stores they check-in to and discover new places that match their interests.
At the forefront of this operation is founder Lalin Michael Jinasena. A native of Sri Lanka, Jinasena has a diverse background as a highly regarded hotelier, interior designer and entrepreneur.
Jinasena moved into the world of technology upon noticing the lack of social media interaction between retail brands and their customers. Elephanti, based in Singapore and launched in the United States in 2012, connects shoppers and merchants as well as looks to help shoppers discover new brands. When you ?check-in? to a store on Elephanti (like on the popular FourSquare app), you receive an instant discount from that store.
?Checking in? online so others can see your location has become a regular occurrence for some technophiles; you?re able to do so via Facebook, FourSquare and other apps. Elephanti uses this same technology and even offers a reward ? a discount to a place where you?re planning to buy something anyway.
